Child Trafficking Increases Worldwide:Normal Vr.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has released a global report
on the state of human trafficking.
Around one-third of victims were under 18, a five percent increase from
the previous report. Between 2010 and 2012, authorities identified over
40,000 victims, originally from at least 150 countries. Overall, girls
and women accounted for 70 percent of cases. The purposes of human trafficking
include sexual exploitation, forced labor and organ harvesting. Child trafficking
is a major concern in Africa and the Middle East, where children constitute
60 percent of victims. The figures are based on reported cases so the actual
situation could be far worse.
The report also points out few traffickers are convicted in many countries,
highlighting their lax regulations. It calls on individual countries to
renew their focus and improve efforts to prevent this transnational organized
crime.

Japan’s environment ministry has started a program to decrease the number of pets killed each year.
The UN has released its latest global report on human trafficking. About
one-third of victims were under 18, a five percent increase from the last
report. Between 2010 and 2012, there were over 40,000 victims from 150
countries. Females accounted for 70 percent of cases. Most of those trafficked
are sexually exploited or forced to work. Child trafficking is a major
problem in Africa and the Middle East, where 60 percent of victims are
children. Many cases go undetected so the true figures are unknown.
The report also notes many countries have poor records of jailing traffickers.
It calls on individual countries to enhance their efforts to stop this
global crime.
