Robot Aims to Pass University of Tokyo Exam: Normal Version
Japan's National Institute of Informatics has announced the results of its project to have an artificial intelligence robot pass university entrance exams.
The project’s first goal is to attain a high score in the National Center Test for University Admissions by 2016. The next target will be to pass the exam for the University of Tokyo by 2021. The current results show the system’s academic ability has developed since last year. It would have an 80 percent chance of entering over 470 universities. Unfortunately, the University of Tokyo is still a remote possibility. The system has made great strides in analyzing English meaning in context. This follows the integration of advanced language recognition software for smartphones.
The project’s overall goal is to develop artificial intelligence that can understand context based on human logic. This will support the creation of more sophisticated translation and other services.

The first goal is to gain a high score in the National Center Test for University Admissions by 2016. The next step will be to pass the University of Tokyo exam by 2021. The latest results show the system is improving. It has a strong possibility of entering over 470 universities. However, the University of Tokyo remains unlikely. The system has greatly improved its English thanks to the use of language software for smartphones.
The long-term goal is to develop a system that can understand language in context. This will support the creation of better translation tools.
