Canad Launches Cyberbullying Campaign: Normal Version
Canada has launched a new advertising campaign targeting the growing problem
of cyberbullying.
Called Stop Hating Online, it will use television and Internet advertising
to publicize the issue. It will also focus on when cyberbullying becomes
a criminal activity. Canadians have been shocked by the recent death of
a teenage girl as a result of cyberbullying. The girl attempted suicide
after an intimate picture was shared online. Other suicides and cases of
intimidation have also been reported. In response, Canada has introduced
a bill making it illegal to share private images without consent. The legislation
will give police the power to seize computers, cellphones and other devices.
A second part of the campaign will encourage people to take action against
cyberbullying before it becomes a problem. The government is also supporting
school-based projects to prevent bullying.
カナダは、増加するネットいじめの問題を対象とした新たな広告キャンペーンを開始しました。
このキャンペーンは「ストップ・ヘイティング・オンライン（Stop Hating Online）」と呼ばれ、テレビやインターネット広告を利用してこの問題を広く訴えます。また、ネットいじめが犯罪行為に当たる場合に重点が置かれます。カナダの人々は、先日ある10代の少女がネットいじめが原因で亡くなった事件にショックを受けています。その少女は個人的な写真がインターネット上で共有された後に自殺を図りました。他にも自殺や脅迫事件が報告されています。これに対し、カナダは同意なしに個人的な画像を共有することを違法とする法案を提出しました。この法律により、パソコンや携帯電話などの機器を押収する権限が警察に与えられます。
キャンペーンの第2段階では、問題に発展する前にネットいじめに対して行動を起こすよう呼びかけます。また、政府は学校単位でのいじめ防止対策を支援しています。
